TOMMY LEE EDWARDS was born a texan in 1973, grew up in michigan, attended the ART CENTER COLLEGE OF DESIGN in california, and then moved to central north carolina. he’s lived there and worked in his studio behind the house for several years now, accompanied by his wife (and often colorist) MELISSA and their two children. since 1992, TOMMY’s been making a living as an illustrator on everything from comics and movies, to games and children’s books. a life-long lover of comics, he has put his heart and soul into creating art (and sometimes the stories) for such titles as DAREDEVIL, ZOMBIE WORLD, THE QUESTION, BATMAN, X-MEN, THE INVISIBLES, DISAVOWED, ALIENS, TEDDY GRANT, and BULLET POINTS for all of the major publishers.

beyond comics, TOMMY’s long list of clients includes lucasfilm, dreamworks, warner bros, sony, coca-cola, saban, disney, and electronic arts. some well-known projects featured in his portfolio include all of the promotion and product art for the HARRY POTTER, BATMAN BEGINS, SUPERMAN RETURNS, MEN IN BLACK II, and DINOTOPIA films. other credits include conceptual and storyboard work for films like SINBAD: LEGEND OF THE SEVEN SEAS, and videogames like PREY, COMMAND AND CONQUER, and MEDAL OF HONOR. his STAR WARS credits include various children’s books from random house, the ESSENTIAL CHRONOLOGY book from del rey and cover art for the STAR WARS rpg books. he’s also supplied art for the STAR WARS INSIDER and GAMER magazines, dark horse comics, and a series of images for the SW:EPISODE III style-guide.

typically having four or five projects going at once, TOMMY will (depending on that project’s objective) approach each with a unique mind-set and medium. a book cover may be approached with paint, while a comics page is tackled with ink and photoshop. a game may be in the concept stage, and is handled with some with charcoal and a china marker. TOMMY likes to jump around between various methods and genres- believing that it is the only way to improve one’s skills and to try and stay fresh and motivated.
